PERFORMANCE
ENGINEERED

Since1891

There’s a certain feeling – whether behind the steering wheel, using an app, or speaking with an employee.

In every detail, there is purpose, passion and precision. Together, they create a premium experience that goes beyond the product, beyond the tangible. It’s what unites all of us who never compromise on quality or performance, and who have the drive to go further. It’s an experience you can trust. An experience to be proud of. The Scania experience.

One small step for man

Through rigorous user testing, Scania’s boarding steps are adjusted down to the millimetre to align as closely as possible with the driver’s natural movements and centre of gravity.

A badge of continuous improvements

The outer shape of the Scania logotype is inspired by a bicycle cog, a nod to our origins in bicycle manufacturing and legacy of over 130 years of continuous improvement.

Scania Driver

The driver app embodies the idea of interconnectivity, seamlessly bridging mobile and vehicle systems. It reflects Scania’s commitment to delivering a cohesive user experience across every touchpoint, supporting drivers throughout their whole journey.

Advancing with presence

Scania’s audio theme blends real instruments with digital sounds, showing how Scania unites craftsmanship and technology in every truck. The BPM matches a human heartbeat, creating a sense of trust and a sound that drives you forward.

Tegel Design System

Scania’s Design System is the foundation for all digital experiences, built with precision down to an 8px grid that ensures balance and harmony across every layout. Crafted with care, down to the smallest detail, so that every Scania application feels consistent, reliable, and thoughtfully designed.

Gearing up

The 2nd highest gear in the G33-CM gearbox is called 12, and the highest OD (not 13). Rather than assuming, the team tested on drivers, and for them the Overdrive aspect was more understandable when emphasised.

We got your back

Scania’s turn-signal lever isn’t just made to signal — it’s also reinforced for safety. Because if a driver grabs it when entering the cab, it should be able to support their weight.

At your service

“Tools and equipment must always be in good and safe condition.” That is just one of 110 requirement points that all 1,767 Scania service points must fulfil across the globe.

A paler shade of blue

Scania’s digital greyscale consists of 17 steps. This is the sweet spot. Flexible enough to handle every case. Simple enough to be practical. The key colour is an 80% transparent version of Scania Blue.

Hands on the engine

Mounting the engine is one of the most critical steps in our assembly line. When doing so everything you need should be within arm's reach, ensuring that the person responsible can always keep one hand on the engine, mitigating all risks in this critical step.

Embracing new contexts

Designing the Scania app for Apple Vision Pro meant that we had to apply our design philosophy to an entirely new context. Something that was challenging at times. But we tested it rigorously with our users, to ensure that they would get that sense of performance and precision that Scania is known for.

Technology to run

Our running t-shirts are made of a 150 grams per square meter recycled fabric, renowned for its comfort and breathability. It has a semi-loose fit that allows for unconstrained movement, and a bespoke print that tells a story about what we do and who we are.

Wherever you’re going, your Scania follows

Scania trucks are built to perform in all conditions. They follow our drivers across the globe, from the dry cold of the Arctic Circle to the heat of Algeria and the humid climate of Singapore. It’s not by chance, but by design, that Scania is a beloved brand across the world.

Everything in precision

Excellence lives in the details. Every line, every surface, every mechanism is shaped with care — because precision is not just a standard, it is the Scania Way.

Where visions take shape

The clay studio is where visions take shape. Every surface is sculpted, every line refined, until they become unmistakably Scania. It’s a process of dedication and collaboration between our highly skilled clay modellers and industrial designers on a shared mission — creating the Scania of tomorrow.

Staying on the road

Keeping our customers moving is critical for us to deliver on our promise. For those times when something is not working as it should we need to be there. Making sure that customers stay on the road 24/7/365. Maximising their performance long after the truck has left our factory.

"The reliability is critical — reducing the risk of being stranded in the middle of a road at night. That’s why so many drivers now want to switch to Scania."

How we create the Scania experience

Our way,
the Scania way

Robin Grieves

Industrial Designer

We look at every situation, every interaction, through the eyes of our users — curiously asking ourselves what they would ask for, so they won’t have to. We add only what is needed and brush out the distractions. We take pride in always delivering our very best, never compromising on quality, and are genuinely committed to making things better. We strive to find the best solution for every situation, tailored to specific needs. We care for every detail, leaving a lasting impression.

This is our way. The Scania Way.

Every meeting. Every interaction. Every material choice. Every pixel. Every movement and sound. Each and every choice we make. Everything designed, engineered and delivered. Everything plays a part in the experience we create together, and the pride and trust we earn in return.
